Links Africa :: About Us

Welcome to Links Africa

Links Africa is an international non-profit organization - founded to support empowerment for girls through access to quality education and training. The goal is to help girls achieve their full potential so that they can positively contribute to the social, economic, and political development.

Universal education is one of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). However, it is clear that millions of poor children are out of school mainly due to financial constraints. Such poor families are being left behind as they face difficult choice of either to place food on the table or send children to school. Girls are more affected by poverty as customarily parents prefer to send boys to school while girl's education is viewed as a waste of scarce family resources. So, girls stay at home taking care of siblings, engaging in child labor to supplement family income, or are forced to marry elderly men to pay off family debts. Links Africa strongly believes that poverty can be alleviated if girls are supported to access quality education so that they can fairly compete for meaningful employment in the global knowledge-based economy.

Partner with us in our effort to help girls realize their full potential.
