Jane Nelson - Virginia: "When I met Lilian and looked her in the eyes, I had no doubt in my mind that I had to do whatever it takes to help her through school so that she could realize her full potential. Lilian was full of determination and she new exactly what her predicament were - lack of resources. She also knew that she could go an extra mile to overcome this challenge, a feat that many needy kids fail to accomplish. Lilian has three siblings. She worked as a housemaid during the day and her brother worked as a farm laborer to supplement their family income. The other two siblings went to school. At night, those who went to school tutored Lilian and her brother in poorly lit huts and scarce learning materials. It is this kind of incredible determination in search of knowledge that defined my mission. I saw through these children's eyes the strong conviction that education would someday help them escape the bondage of poverty. I believe with a passion that this extra-ordinary optimism deserves support and commitment".

Beatrice Peterson - Minnesota: "I met Janet Kagwina on the streets on Nairobi with her family. They had been misplaced by tribal clashes that hit the Nakuru area in the early 90’s. Janet had dropped out of school a fact that psychologically tormented her and her mother. As they said hi to me, Janet straight away asked if it was possible for her to get back to school. I got interested to know why she was on the streets and what her plans were. I was shocked to learn that she was an honors student but her family had no resources to send her to school. I was touched to the core and decided there and then to commit myself to paying Janet’s tuition in full. Janet performs as the best student in her class and I am so glad I took a minute to listen to her dilemma. It is so fulfilling to have Janet in my life for I know the difference I am making will go a long way to help her entire family. I’m extremely proud of Janet and I believe she will excel and become a significant woman leader in her country. I pretty much feel like a part of her family. I didn’t know sponsoring a needy girl could be this rewarding. I am glad I did".

Nicolas Peterson - Washington: "When everything else seems not to be working to my favor, one thought keeps me going - the thought that with my little contribution, I am making a difference in someone’s life! Jackline dropped out of school after her parents died of HIV/AIDS. An ophan with no one to turn to for help and siblings to take care of, Jackline's young life and dreams were shattered. When I met her seeking employment as a domestic worker, I immediately realized her determination to succeed through her hard work and positive attitude. I was surprised how she managed to remain hopeful despite despite the heavy responsibilities and constraints. I felt compelled to assist and make a small difference in her life. Since I started supporting Jackline, my life has become happier and more meaningful. My view of the world has changed for the better and I have learnt to appreciate the little things that we can do but very often we ignore, thinking that it won’t make a difference. Put simply, by helping Jackline, I have helped myself become a better person!"

Carolyn McDaniels - Pennysylvania: "In my personal life I have witnessed the hand of God perform unimaginable miracles. God faithfully looks after the needs of His children and blesses them according to His immense wealth in heaven. That is the reason why I feel so passionate about supporting a poor girl in Africa get an opportunity to realize her full potential. I feel this is a wonderful opportunity to practice God's true love to a hurting family and share my blessings with those who have less. I encourage you to be a part of this incredible initiative. Friend, You may become the only help that child may ever know! More interestingly, the whole experience has been so rewarding to my family and I".
